Luke Hines has signed the dotted line with Miller Barrett Racing and is set to make his debut at the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona. Luke Hines will be taking the wheel of the No. 48 Porsche 911 along with Peter Ludwig. Miller Barrett recently announced its driver lineup which would have Luke Hines and Peter Ludwig going for the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, while Bryce Miller and Kevin Roush would be competing in the Porsche 3.8L Flat-6. Luke Hines is essentially a British racer with an impressive résumé. The 27 year old began his career in 1994 by participating in the British Jr. Kart Championship. After being crowned the British Jr. Kart Champion, Luke Hines moved on to the Formula Ford Championship and made an incredible record of 10 wins in 10 races with 10 fastest laps.
The Sedge Green Essex resident is known for his punk style and fast and furious style of racing. Luke Hines’ father is a well known multiple world kart champion. In 2003 Luke Hines raced in a front wheel drive for the very first time and made quite a mark as he dominated the Production Class Championship by taking 18 straight podiums and 8 poles. In 2004 Luke Hines did a double whammy and won at the Brands Hatch as well as the Snetterton along with other podium wins. For 2006 Luke Hines’ career took a turn towards the British GT Championship where he accomplished 16 straight podiums, 6 pole positions and 4 outright wins.
With a fast and furious attitude and great speed on the tracks, the debut of Luke Hines would be a welcome sight for racing fans. Every year the Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance race showcases the best racing talent in the world and provides a common platform for the drivers to not only test their speed but also their endurance and teamwork. The Roar Before the Rolex 24 provides the drivers with a preview of how the tracks would treat them on the final day of racing, which is scheduled to be held on the 30th of January. Luke Hines stated that he had been preparing for the 24 hour race for the past 2 months and had trained tirelessly to be able to give the best debut on the Daytona International
Speedway tracks. Luke Hines also focused on getting himself into the best shape he has ever been in, to be able to sustain the pressure the endurance race inflicts on the drivers.
Luke Hines has some very ambitious plans with regards to the endurance race, as he stated that his sole aim of participating in the race was to start his year with a win. Luke Hines is looking forward to give his 2010 racing season a kick start by winning the GT class at the Rolex 24 At Daytona race. Co-owner Miller Barrett racing, Paul Miller is very proud of his association with Luke Hines and has great expectations from his entire lineup. He also expressed his happiness about the fact that though the Miller Barrett Racing team had a single entry for the event, he was proud to have a driver lineup that was a mix of talent, pace and experience.
